Parchmore Place is situated on two floors. The Ground Floor is wheelchair accessible, with a number of Community Spaces available for hire including:
- Large Hall suitable for conferences, seminars, training, exercise, dance, drama, forums, worship, and general meetings
- Small Meetings Rooms suitable for study, focus groups, workshops etc
- Music Recording Studios
- Enterprise Hub – Space for organisations to develop and run their businesses
Community Programs
Since its establishment in 1992 PJ’s Community Service has morphed into a robust community interest organisation. The impact of the organisations work is demonstrated by their flexible approach to delivery and the ability to respond to the changing needs of the communities that they serve.
Superdads – a free program, offering training and development to Superdads in order to equip them to be role models and support other parents in the community.
The program consists of a 12 session program where superdads will be equipped with tools such as mentoring, child protection, sexual health, technological developments and more.
Our children live in an increasingly changing environment. The superdads program will help keep you up-to-date with changes in society and help you bring out the best in children.
Bringing out the best – Bringing out the Best is a free support and networking program for parents wanting to bring out the best in their children.
The program seeks to motivate, empower, and support parents through the highs, lows and downright funny moments in parenting in the 21st Century.
Our children live in an increasingly revolving environment. Bringing out the best will help you keep up-to-date with changes in and equip you with skills and tools to deal with whatever our children through at us.
Summer Uni – High impact summer program providing a range of interactive sessions for young people aged 12 – 25 years. Activities include: dance, music, personal development, choir & singing. All activities focus on team building, developing confidence, raising self esteem and promoting self worth.
The Balancing Act – Annual workshop & personal development program targeting women and faith Community Groups. The balancing act is a personal development workshop that aims to bring out the best in women by teaching life management skills including debt management, personal development, parenting and relationships.
Kingdom Builders – working with Black majority faith groups to enhance community impact using the vehicles of Business and community development.
Global Entrepreneurship Week – Annual impact program, designed to raise the awareness of Entrepreneurship amongst young people. Using mentors, role models and active business owners to inspire young people.
Founding Director Peter Patrick Reid has played an instrumental role in the development of the organisation. A visionary with excellent analytical skills, Peter was able to develop & grow a much needed community interest company.
As an active member of the community he serves on a number of advisory boards including:
- Croydon B.M.E (Black Minority Etnic) Forum as Vice Chair
- Children and Young Peoples Network
- Croydon Schools Improvement Board
- Schools Behavioural Task Force
- Children & Young Peoples Strategic Partnership
- Healthy Croydon Partnership
In 2003 he was awarded as Croydon Community Champion - for diversity for his work in the community. In 2004 he was voted Mighty Man of Valour award for being an outstanding role model for men in the community. He is dedicated to using his skill and time to working with young people and tackle issues around crime prevention, anti-social behaviour, and the underachievement of BME boys.
Claudine Reid MBE Co-Director of PJ’s Community Service, is also a trainer & inspirational speaker, TV presenter, & Mentor. She has been key to the development and strategic direction of PJ’s Community Service. Her commitment to adding value to the people is demonstrated by the numerous boards and regional involvement programmes that she has contributed to and is involved with, including:
- 2003 – 2005 - Advisor to the Secretary of State - Department of trade and industry
- Appointed as one of 28 Cabinet Office Social Enterprise Ambassador for the country, by the Office of the Third Sector.
- Listed By Royal Bank of Scotland (March 2009) as one of Britain’s top 100 most Entrepreneurial women.
- Appointed to the National Social Enterprise Expert Panel for OTS
- Trustee for the Nurtue Foundation - An international Charity working to Support and empower parents in Developing countries.
